Position: Human Resources Manager
Location: Iowa City, IA
Duration: Full-Time with benefits

Leepfrog Technologies, a rapidly growing small business of 25+ employees, is searching for a dedicated Human Resources Manager. The Human Resources Manager is responsible for all Human Resources activities of Leepfrog Technologies. General activity includes the administration of several HR functions including employee relations, compensation, recruitment, and compliance and employee benefits. This newly created position is responsible for updating policies and procedures and recommending HR best practices to the leadership team.

Responsibilities and required experiences for this position include:

  • Communicates changes in personnel policies and ensures proper compliance is followed
  • Stays current on recent federal, state and case law changes and monitors labor law updates for changes that affect HR
  • Prepares, recommends and maintains records and procedures for controlling personnel transactions and reporting personnel data
  • Manages the employee benefits and maintains a positive relationship with employee benefits vendors
  • Communicates employee benefits to staff as a group at least annually and each staff member on an ongoing basis in order that staff will be knowledgeable of the benefits available
  • Administers classification programs, which includes classifying and reclassifying positions and writing job descriptions
  • Conducts salary surveys, analyzes compensation, monitors performance evaluation programs, and recommends and implements benefits programs
  • Maintains HR metrics and is responsible for maintaining all personnel files
  • Develops and maintains the Human Resources budget
  • Ensures legal compliance with all employment-related federal, state and local government laws
  • Provides leadership, confidentiality and organizational support in fostering a productive culture that values openness, honesty, and integrity
  • Interfaces directly with Management Team
  • Other duties as assigned by leadership

Management Style:

The Human Resource Manager must have strong technical abilities and a management style that fosters open and collaborative dialogue between staff and Human Resources. The HR Manager should support the Company and staff by developing an environment of integrity and trust which will eventually improve overall employee engagement.

Qualifications for this position are:

  • Bachelor’s degree required in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
  • At least 5+ years of Human Resource experience with a heavy emphasis on HR operations
  • A working knowledge of and experience with various employee benefits including group health and dental insurance, group term life insurance and accidental death insurance, flexible medical and dependent care plans, partial self-insured medical programs, 401(k) retirement plans, and the associated rules and reporting requirements for all plans
  • Have a demonstrated Human Resource knowledge in all generalist areas
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to express ideas and concepts effectively in individual or group settings
  • Effective management style that builds trust and open communication
  • Ability to work effectively both individually and with teams; showing initiative and taking prompt, self-directed action to accomplish objectives
  • Technical and professional knowledge and expertise in employee relations, regulatory requirements, performance management, and the ability to motivate and influence others is a material part of the job requiring a significant level of diplomacy and trust
  • Self-motivated and directed, and able to handle multiple tasks
  • Ability to streamline the internal process in the areas of performance reviews & performance management
