What to look for in Catalog Management Software
Print to PDF
An integral and powerful feature of CourseLeaf is the ability to generate high quality PDF documents on-demand.
- CourseLeaf features on-demand PDF generation of all catalogs, with changes being immediately reflected in both online and PDF formats so University staff do not need to make style changes to the document, nor do they need to re-create the content into InDesign.
- The CourseLeaf software will quickly create the professional layout, formatting, table of contents, index, page numbers, and style guidelines for you. This allows you to continue to provide high quality PDF on demand with very little additional cost or effort.
- Changes made in the online content management system are immediately available for publication to students.
- CourseLeaf will generate professional quality print-on-demand PDF output with one click, and can regenerate a 400-page catalog in less than 45 minutes. The PDF is re-formatted on the fly, and adjusts for things like widow and orphan control, folio headers, graphic re-sizing, and so forth.
Automatic Index Generation
The CourseLeaf solution automatically generates the table of contents and the index of the catalog. No human intervention or additional work is required.
Delivering What You Want
Leepfrog works with our clients extensively, customizing the catalog to their specifications and needs. CourseLeaf - Build the exact catalog you want. Efficiently.
Student Focused Search Engine
CourseLeaf's powerful search engine - Focus Search - goes far beyond the capabilities of a standard search engine, delivering the exact information the student requires.
Visitor Initiated Search
Students can search the catalog by keyword search. Specific terms – specific course numbers, titles and keywords of programs and courses, and administrator-defined keywords – have enhanced search results that display relevant information in the search results page. This search can also be directly integrated into the visitor’s web browser.
The system is aware of the relations between programs and courses, and provides information about how the courses are related to programs and to each other. By default, the course eco system displays a traditional view of pre-requisite references (“before taking this course, students must have taken these courses”), forward view of pre-requisites (“this course is a prerequisite for these other courses”), and programs which reference the course. Additional information may be added into the course ecosystem view as configuration options.
Course Information Balloons
When the student clicks on a course, a synopsis of all of the course information is displayed without leaving the current content of the catalog. Typical information includes title, description, hours, pre-requisites, specific semester offerings, and so on.
When browsing historical copies of the catalog, CourseLeaf is aware of when to search historical catalog information and when to display current information. While sometimes surprising to the visitor, this is extremely useful for upperclassmen who are looking for current course offerings to fulfill requirements that were active at the time they matriculated.
Getting the Details Right
Leepfrog works tirelessly to ensure that your data is correct. CourseLeaf performs numerous accuracy checks to verify that course information within the catalog matches the data within your SIS.
