PageLeaf Sets Sail

Columbia Sailing School implements PageLeaf

March 3, 2005

Even though Lake Michigan's harbors are still clogged with ice, Chicago's Columbia Sailing School will use PageLeaf to prepare for its springtime sailing season. Serving such diverse groups as sailing students, experienced mariners, volunteers and the general public, www.sailcolumbia.com needs to be filled dynamic, accessible and up-to-date information. PageLeaf is set to help the Sailing School website be just that.

Grant Gerdes, the Sailing School's webmaster, will use PageLeaf to allow multiple people to add valuable content to the website. Rather than having to submit their unformatted copy to Gerdes who would then add it to the site, other select people will have the authority to create and edit site information on their own. This means that volunteers, like the student captains of teams, will use PageLeaf's friendly user interface to post their most current team information. Sailing School staff will also, of course, have easy access to keep site content fresh and complete.

To ensure that the Sailing School's high web standards are met, any new or edited pages will use the custom design template included in PageLeaf, and still have to be approved by Gerdes. However, since he won't be creating those pages from scratch but rather approving already complete pages, the process will be significantly faster and easier for everyone.

With PageLeaf in place, complete and secure online registration will also be available. Aspiring sailors interested in sailing certification or participating in the summer youth programs will be able to complete their registration (including credit card payment) entirely online.

Paul Dexter, one of Leepfrog's primary support staff for PageLeaf clients, is already hard at work helping the Sailing School transfer all of their old site content into PageLeaf. "It's always exciting to implement our software for a unique industry like a sailing club," states Dexter, "to be able to use our software to meet their specific needs."

The Sailing School will also be implementing Leepfrog's Tumbler program. Tumbler provides an easy-to-use yet strong solution to handling the storage of sensitive information, which will allow the Sailing School to collect membership fees and process event registration through their site.
